Swansea
Overview
Swansea is southern Welsh city, fifty minutes by train from the Capital City of Cardiff. The Bay connects Swansea to the old fishing village of Mumbles. The Gower Peninsula, with its beautiful cliffs and beaches lies immediately to the west. The coastline and surrounding countryside offer excellent opportunities for leisure and sporting activities.

Swansea airport operates flights to and from Ireland, with flights to Amsterdam, Paris and Brussels soon to be introduced. The Wales International Airport in Cardiff is only one hour away and Bristol International Airport is approximately ninety minutes away by shuttle bus and train. The M4 motorway (the main road from London) passes through the northern suburbs of Swansea. Swansea railway station is on the main line from London Paddington station, less than three hours away. There are also frequent ferry crossings from Swansea to Cork, in the Republic of Ireland. Local transport facilities include regular buses, with direct services from the Singleton campus to the halls of residence at Clyne Castle and the student village at Hendrefoilan.
