Brunel University, established in 1966, is named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a famous Victorian Engineer and one of the UK’s most well known historical figures. In adopting Brunel’s name, the university sought to emulate his qualities: ingenuity, rigour and creativity combined with practicality and thoroughness. Brunel currently has over 13,000 students, including an international student community of almost 2,000 students from over 110 countries. Around 3,000 students at the university are studying at postgraduate level.
