Engineering & Applied Sciences International Scholarship


Many programmes within the School of Engineering & Applied Science (SEAS) offer a substantial entrance bursary. There are 20 scholarships available at the value of £3,000 awarded to those international students proven to excel in their subject area.

MBA Application Fee
MBA applicants will no longer be required to pay an application fee. Any applicant who has already paid the application fee and goes on to enroll on the MBA Programme will receive a £50 credit towards their tuition fees.

1) Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship

For courses starting in September 2011 DMU offers £1,000 scholarships to overseas students. This is an academically assessed scholarship, awarded to students achieving the required grades. For full information, terms and conditions, and other scholarships, please visit the “fees and scholarships” section of DMU’s website.

The £1000 scholarships will be paid towards the full tuition fees (deducted at the beginning of the first, or only, year of study) of overseas-status students from any country in the world wishing to study the following types of full-time courses:*

• Undergraduate degrees (BA/BSc/LLB) in any subject
• Postgraduate Diplomas & Masters courses (PGDip/MA/MSc/MBA/LLM) in any subject
• MPhil/PhD research degrees in any subject

2) DFID Commonwealth Shared Scholarship 2011

DMU offers DFID Commonwealth Shared Scholarship for the 2011/12 academic year.
This scholarship is jointly funded by DMU and the British Government’s Department for International Development. It offers a taught Master’s education to an outstanding student from a developing Commonwealth nation who would not otherwise be able to enjoy its benefit due to financial constraints. The intention is that the knowledge gained will benefit the economic, social and technological development of the student’s nation.

DMU is offering one such scholarship for 2011/12.

Scholarships

1) AES - Academic Excellence Scholarships

There are A$10,000 and A$20,000 scholarships available for the year 2012. All offshore applications must be received by close of business, Thursday 15th December for semester 1, 2012 in order to apply for them. The Scholarsh ip Ranking Committee will meet on Tuesday 20th December to decide on the successful applicants and all scholarship offers will be sent before the Xmas shut-down. The application form to apply for scholarship is attached above. In order to apply for the AES scholarship, student must have at least 75% in their previous studies. The scholarships are merit based so 75% in previous education will not confirm the scholarship. It will be granted to the applicants with best academic scores out of all applicants

2) CSDS - Commercial and Strategic Development Scholarships

For Under graduation: 80% in their year 12/ standard 12.
For Postgraduate program [ by course work]: 70% in their bachelor degree

There are limited CSDS scholarships available. After offering the scholarsh ips, it will be finally given to students based on the availability at the time of acceptance of their offer letter. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees (non EU).
  • Candidates must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in their studies.

  • Candidates can be studying on postgraduate taught or postgraduate research courses.

Application procedures:

  • There is no need to make a separate scholarship application. All eligible candidates will be considered on the basis of their course application form.

Sydney Achievers International Scholarships

The University of Sydney takes great pleasure in announcing the Sydney Achievers International Scholarships for new international students commencing at the University in Semester 2, 2012.

Criteria for Eligibility

  • Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification or an international senior secondary qualification accepted by the University with an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 98* or equivalent.
  • Students transferring with credit exemptions and/or advanced standing are not eligible. Students completing Foundation Studies Programs are also not eligible.

POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

Criteria for Eligibility

  • Applicants must have completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree qualification with a minimum high distinction average as based on the Australian grading system. Students who have already commenced Postgraduate studies, or students transferring from other Postgraduate programs are not eligible.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Selection will be based on academic merit as per the University’s admission requirements, and on other discipline-specific criteria (such as audition results/portfolios). Selection will be based on actual results (academic and English language proficiency). Predicted/forecast results will not be considered.
  • Selection will be made by the University’s Sydney Achievers International Scholarship
  • Selection Committee, whose decision will be final. No appeals will be entertained.
    Successful candidates will be informed in June 2012.

CONDITIONS

  • Undergraduate Scholarship recipients will need to maintain satisfactory academic progress, which, for the purposes of retaining the Scholarship, is defined as maintaining a credit average (at least 65%) or more each year. Failure to do so may result in the Scholarship being terminated.

Successful candidates:

  • must not be in receipt of any other tuition scholarship;
  • must commence study in Semester 2, 2012 – commencement may not be deferred;
  • will be required to pay for their own airfares to Sydney, living expenses, study materials, textbooks, any ancillary fees (if applicable) and Overseas Student Health Cover each year;
  • are also responsible for paying the balance of the tuition fees each year;
  • are required to enrol as full-time international students and must maintain their international student status on a full-time basis throughout their enrolment at the University of Sydney; and
  • may not be entitled to a ‘Leave of Absence’ during the duration of the Scholarship, unless it is due to extenuating circumstances.

Course of the month - BSc Quantity Surveying
In each issue we'll be focusing on a particular programme.
The BSc Quantity Surveying programme builds a curriculum around law, economics and management. There is also an emphasis on the development of vocational knowledge and skills, technology, and quantity surveying practice and procedure.
The programme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). This programme has a 90% employability rate!

Chancellor’s Scholarship by university of Surrey

The University of Surrey is proud to launch the prestigious Chancellor’s Scholarship, to recognise excellent academic achievement, open to all British, European and overseas students applying for undergraduate programmes starting in September 2012.

The Chancellor’s Scholarship will be awarded to all undergraduate students achieving A*AA at A-Level, or an International Baccalaureate (IB) score of 36, or above, and who choose Surrey as their firm choice on UCAS. The scholarship is also to be awarded to those who achieve D*DD in BTEC Nationals (NQF) Diploma.

The Scholarship is worth £3,000, paid in two instalments during the student’s first academic year. Not only this, but these students will also receive free membership to the new world class Surrey Sports Park throughout their entire undergraduate degree at the University.

University of Surrey Sports Scholarship

The Surrey Sports Scholarship is available to all British, European and international students, on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Candidates must be an internationally recognised athlete in a sport that is recognised by at least one of the major British sporting organisations such as British Universities and College Sports (BUCS), UK Sport and Sport England. All students must achieve the required academic entry standard, as dictated by their chosen course.

The scholarship will normally have a total value of £3000, with a maximum of £1000 to be received in direct finance. The additional £2000 will be used against a number of services such as Accommodation, Physiotherapy treatment, Nutritionist, etc.

There will be a maximum of 12 scholarships awarded each academic year.

 University of Surrey Chancellor’s Scholarship

The University of Surrey is proud to launch the prestigious Chancellor’s Scholarship, to recognize excellent academic achievement, open to all British, European and overseas students applying for undergraduate programmes starting in September 2012.

The Chancellor’s Scholarship will be awarded to all undergraduate students achieving A*AA or A*A*B at A-Level, or an International Baccalaureate score of 36, or above, and who choose Surrey as their firm choice on UCAS.*

The Scholarship is worth £3,000, paid in two installments during the student’s first academic year. Not only this, but these students will also receive free membership to the new world class Surrey Sports Park throughout their entire undergraduate degree at the University.


University of Surrey Sport’s Scholarship

The Surrey Sports Scholarships are open to Home, EU and international students on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, who achieve the required academic entry standard as dictated by their chosen course.

The scholarships will be tailored to the individual needs of the candidate and will normally have a total value of £3000. In addition to the scholarship, the candidate will benefit from free, full membership of Surrey Sports Park, and may receive further support through the Team Surrey’s High Performance Athlete Support Scheme which includes athlete mentoring and performance lifestyle workshops.

Recipients must be an internationally recognised athlete in a sport that is recognised by at least one of the major British sporting organisations: British Universities and College Sports (BUCS), UK Sport and Sport England.

Each successful applicant will have their status reviewed each year to ensure that they continue to achieve high standards in both their academic and athletic disciplines.
